With a career that has spanned continents, governments, and industries, Yara Hamad is guided by the belief that with change comes opportunity and is on life time mission to make a difference!
Yara Hamad, a Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory expert has graduated from Gulph University in Ontario, Canada in 1996 and is holding a degree in food safety and Food microbiology. Here career started by working for prominent Governmental organizations including OMAFRA-Ontario Ministry of Food and Rural affairs in Canada, followed by Dubai Municipality in the UAE where she had the honor of holding the title of “the first female Health Officer in the UAE and the GCC” paving the way for other female’s to enter what was then a male dominant profession.
She then made a career shift working with leading FMCG industries including Nestle Middle East where she has led several Technical roles including Sensory and Quality System’s manager, and currently is working with PepsiCo international as the director of Scientific and Regulatory affairs for MENA.
Yara has been part of key regulatory committees and industry associations including: ESMA Technical committee, Arab Beverage association (Board member), and is currently the President of The International Life Science Institute in the Middle East (ILSI ME).
Her passion and collaborative attitude have been instrumental in building a positive Public-Private partnership, and in shaping a favorable and effective regulatory environment in the region driven by sound science and referencing global regulatory standards and best practices.
