The UAE has one of the largest concentrations of date palm trees in the world. Each palm tree,
replaces 12-15 new leaves every year, generating about 1.2 million tons of biowaste. Most of this
green waste is discarded at dump sites, or worse, burned.
By blending the date palm tree biowaste with other biodegradable polymers extracted from corn or sugarcane, we’ve arrived at a new composite material that can become biodegradable products that work similarly to plastic disposables but is eco-friendly to the environment.
We call it Palmade.
