Citric acid is one of the most usual food preservatives and flavoring additions. Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits, particularly lemons and limes, but it can also be synthesized. Its what gives them their tangy and sour flavour. Fermentation is used to make it commercially. It comes in the shape of a white crystalline powder. In foods, drinks, pharmaceuticals, and technical applications, it is the most frequently used organic acid and pH-control agent.
