Ascorbic Acid is a naturally occurring organic compound with antioxidant properties. It is a white solid, but impure samples can appear yellowish. It dissolves well in water to give mildly acidic solutions. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), also known as L-ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin rich in fruits and vegetables. It plays a regulatory role in the redox metabolic reaction, and lacking it can cause scurvy. Under normal circumstances, most of the vitamin C is metabolized into oxalic acid in the body or combined with sulfuric acid to form ascorbic acid-2-sulfate, which is excreted in the urine, and the other part can be directly excreted from the urine.
